What are airdrops?

Airdrops are popular in the world of crypto. An airdrop consists in giving free crypto currency in coins or tokens to random or selected users. At the beginning of the blockchain history around 10 years ago, airdrops allowed to familiarize people with crypto. In order to get more people look into this new technology, many projects would give free crypto to people for joining a forum, subscribing to a newsletter or attending a crypto event.

Now that almost everyone has heard about Bitcoin and crypto, airdrops serve a different purpose. They help spread the word about particular projects. Typically, users get rewarded for liking, retweeting or sharing a project’s content on social media. People who look for such offers are usually called “airdrop hunters” and they can make some income from these free cryptos. They also serve as a loyalty program to reward users. For example, crypto exchanges often airdrop newly listed tokens to their users who hold a certain amount of the exchange token or who reach a certain trading volume on the exchange, and so on.

Drawback of airdrops

Airdrops may have many advantages, but they also have drawbacks, in particular for investors. Although all investments, including crypto, carry a high risk, investors who buy a particular coin or token expect that their portfolio value will increase with time. For many projects, that means the value of the coin or token is expected to rise. How would you feel if you invested 1000$ in a certain crypto and random users received the same amount for free? Thankfully, most airdrops are tiny drops in the ocean. Still, especially with low liquidity tokens, a quick sale of airdropped tokens can severely affect the price of a coin and the mood of investors, at least initially. Most projects will recover from it, but some don’t, sadly.

That is why at Taal Coin (TAAL), we chose a Zero-Airdrop policy. We value our investors first and foremost. Instead of giving free tokens to airdrop hunters, we prefer following a marketing strategy that doesn’t involve airdrops. Therefore, all TAAL tokens in existence will have initially been in the hands of investors or partners. So if you are an investor, you do not have to fear that airdrop hunters will dump on you.

Still, that doesn’t mean that you will never find TAAL airdrops. Of 40M TAAL tokens minted, 20M, or half of it, are reserved for swaps and partnerships. This means that, for example, we can exchange tokens with a different project. If such projects choose to airdrop their TAAL tokens, they may do so. As a safety measure for the investors, though, all such swaps and partnerships will generally be vested for one year. This means that for one year after the presale, these tokens will not be in circulation. Also know that all of 20M tokens that will not be used for swaps or partnerships will be burned after the presale, so no unpleasant surprises after the presale. Ans as always, transparency is very important to us and all partnerships and swaps will be announced. So you can invest in Taal Coin (TAAL) with peace of mind.
